Congressman Addison McDowell Announces Winner of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Addison McDowell announced that Inva Jenkins, a 10th-grade student at South Davidson High School, has been selected as the winner of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition for North Carolina’s 6th District. Her winning piece is titled “JFK”. “The JFK drawing is a great piece of art, I’m excited to announce Miss Jenkins the winner of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition for North Carolina’s 6th District,” said Congressman McDowell. “Her talent and dedication to the arts are clear, and I know her artwork will be appreciated by visitors from across the country.” Miss Jenkins’s artwork earned first place among submissions from across North Carolina’s 6th District. In the coming months, Miss Jenkins and her family will travel to Washington, D.C., to see her artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol, where it will remain on exhibit for the next year. Reflecting on the recognition, Miss Jenkins said her art teacher encouraged her to submit her work, and she hoped it would warm the hearts of many, and felt it was a good opportunity to try new things. “It started when I came into her [Art Teacher] class with my project for my civics class, and she said that I should submit my work since it’s related to Congress,” Miss. Jenkins said. “I thought it would be a good way to get recognition for my art, especially since it was Kennedy.“
