Project Name: Emergency Operations Center Technology and Equipment, Concord, NC. NC.-06.

Project Explanation: The funding would be used for upgrading the comparator to a new virtualized simulcast prime site, allowing the radio network to remain active for public safety personnel and for partner agencies to coordinate responses via radio.

Project Explanation: The funding would be used to upgrade barcode scanners, computer systems, surveillance technology, fingerprint systems, flight navigation, and Real-Time Crime Center technology for the Guildford County Sheriff’s Office.

Project Explanation: The funding would be used for the construction of a Health Sciences Center to host programs including EMS, nursing, nurse aide, surgical technology, central sterile processing, and medical assistant training. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because it will address healthcare workforce shortages, facilitating the creation of jobs and economic growth in the community. Specifically, Davidson-Davie will train healthcare professionals in high-impact critical healthcare workforce positions, directly filling critical shortages in rural hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities.

Project Explanation: The funding would be used for the replacement of deteriorated water mains throughout the Town to reduce the frequency of leaks, improve water pressure and quality, and eliminate water loss. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because aging sewer lines have contributed to sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs), posing public health risks and environmental compliance concerns. Without immediate intervention, these issues will continue to escalate, increasing costs, and regulatory risks.

 

Project Name: Greensboro Water and Sewer Utility Line Extension, Greensboro, NC. NC-06.

Requested Amount: $2,000,000

Project Explanation: The funding would be used for extending water and sewer lines at the Piedmont Triad International Airport Megasite. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because it meets the eligibility criteria of the relevant Clean Water State Revolving Loan Fund (CWSRF) program. The extensions would allow the airport to fully market the nearly 1,000 acres that comprise its northern campus and would provide essential utility services to facilitate increased economic growth.

 

Project Name: Joint Fire and Police Public Safety Center, Lexington, NC. NC-06.

Project Explanation: The funding would be used to construct a new building that houses the city’s emergency services. Funding would go toward the construction of a new combined facility for the city’s fire station and police department.

Project Explanation: The funding would be used to construct new roadway infrastructure to connect new housing units on the former Kesler Mill site. The roadway would enable access to additional affordable housing units in the community.

Project Explanation: The funding would be used to construct a turn lane between Ray Lanning Road and Wallburg Road. The turn lane would relieve congestion on the road, making critical safety improvements in a school zone in the town.

Project Explanation: The funding would be used to construct curb and water drainage infrastructure along one of the main transportation corridors in Kannapolis. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because it improves drainage on the roadways and improves pedestrian and motorist safety.

 

Project Name: Multi-Purpose Community Event Space, Clemmons, NC. NC-06.

Project Explanation: The funding would be used to construct an open air, covered community vendor space, which would provide a permanent location for farmers, small business owners, and others to engage in local commerce and convene for community events.
