McDowell Introduces PRESS Act to Crack Down on Fentanyl Pill Press Machines Loopholes 

Washington, D.C.  – Today, Congressman Addison McDowell (NC-06) introduced the Preventing Rogue Equipment for Synthetic Substances (PRESS) Act, legislation to stop foreign drug traffickers from importing pill press machines used to develop the illegal fentanyl pills that have devastated American communities for generations. 

Washington, D.C. –  Today, Congressman Addison McDowell (NC-06) introduced the Protecting Children from Foreign Mutilation Act, legislation endorsed by the American Principles Project and designed to close a dangerous loophole that allows foreign doctors and clinics to perform irreversible gender transition procedures on American children overseas and then freely enter the United States without repercussions. 

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Addison McDowell (NC-06) led a bipartisan effort with Congressman Shomari C. Figures (AL-02) to help young children who stutter receive early intervention. The Kidd’s Stuttering Act will add mandatory stuttering screenings for children ages two to six and guarantee Medicaid and CHIP coverage for speech-therapy services.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Addison McDowell praised the Trump Administration and FBI Director Kash Patel for securing a landmark agreement with China to crack down on the chemicals used to produce fentanyl. The deal will save millions of lives by designating 13 precursors and placing new controls on seven additional compounds tied to fentanyl production. 

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Addison McDowell (NC-06) announced that $3 million will be invested in the construction of Davidson-Davie Community College’s new Health Sciences Center. Through H.R. 5371, which the House sent to President Trump’s desk last night for his signature, Congressman McDowell was able to secure this funding to assist in the construction of a health sciences center to host programs including EMS, nursing, nurse aide, surgical technology, central sterile processing, and medical assistant training. 

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Addison McDowell (NC-06) voted “YEA” on the Senate Amendment to H.R. 5371 - Continuing Appropriations, Agriculture, Legislative Branch, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Extensions Act, 2026 to end the over 40-day government shutdown and restore critical government services for Americans. This funding measure ensures that air traffic controllers will receive their pay and recipients of SNAP will receive assistance.
