Rep. McDowell Continues to Deliver for Communities Across NC-06, Securing Nearly $5 Million in Additional Funding for Community Projects
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Addison McDowell (NC-06) announced $4,937,032 will be invested in community projects across North Carolina’s Sixth District, building on the $3 million investment secured earlier through H.R. 5371. The nearly $5 million was included in H.R. 6938, the “Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Appropriations Act, 2026,” which was signed into law by President Trump on Friday, January 23, 2026.
“These are major investments making our communities safer, stronger, and better prepared for the future – and I’m proud to be able to cut through the noise and deliver for people back home,” said Congressman McDowell. “From supporting law enforcement and upgrading critical infrastructure to expanding essential water and sewer capacity, this funding delivers real improvements that families and local businesses in our communities will see and benefit from every day.”

Awarded Amount:
$1,250,000
Project Explanation:
The funding would be used for the replacement of deteriorated water mains throughout the Town to reduce the frequency of leaks, improve water pressure and quality, and eliminate water loss. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because aging sewer lines have contributed to sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs), posing public health risks and environmental compliance concerns. Without immediate intervention, these issues will continue to escalate, increasing costs, and regulatory risks.

Greensboro Water and Sewer Utility Line Extension, Greensboro, NC. NC-06.
Project Recipient:
City of Greensboro
Awarded Amount:
$1,000,000
Project Explanation:
The funding would be used for extending water and sewer lines at the Piedmont Triad International Airport Megasite. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because it meets the eligibility criteria of the relevant Clean Water State Revolving Loan Fund (CWSRF) program. The extensions would allow the airport to fully market the nearly 1,000 acres that comprise its northern campus and would provide essential utility services to facilitate increased economic growth.
